Button Project
My mother has had a button jar for years. It’s filled with all sorts of interesting buttons, but they are practically useless because when she sews clothing, it needs several buttons, and most of these only have one. And I strongly doubt she’s alone. Many people have odd buttons that they can’t really use, but they hang onto anyway. Here’s a project that will put them to good use.
First, you’ll need three sheets of paper, a shadowbox or frame, ribbon, and your buttons. Cut the paper into squares so that you can form a checkerboard pattern. Glue these onto the third (which can be a scrap piece of paper that is cut into the correct size). Then, glue a button into each of the squares. For a special touch, you can actually sew through the piece of paper, and stitch the buttons on. Then, glue your ribbon around the edges. I think the wavy ribbon would look very cute, or you can bring out your special edge scissors.
Finally, put it in the frame and hang it. You have a beautiful button focal point to hang on the wall, and you can enjoy those extra special buttons that never seem to find a home.
