Wax Seals

Published by intricategirl at 8:33 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

One idea I plan on eventually using with my own art is to tell the story of each piece.  Using a nice mulberry type paper, I can print the entire story of each of my eggs.  But I knew that I wanted something extra special, and since each one is an original piece and can never be perfectly recreated, I knew they should come with a sort of “certificate of authenticity”.  Nothing official, mind you.  I know my work, and I’m able to tell if it’s one of my pieces or not.  But more for the customer.

So after I print out the story on the mulberry paper, I’m going to get a custom-made stamp.  This will be made of metal, rather than being a rubber stamp.  The design I’m considering is getting my signature made into the stamp.  Today, I noticed that my local craft store had glitter wax made for a glue gun.  Using the stamp and wax, I put the wax into my glue gun, squeeze a small amount on the paper, and stamp it with the stamper.   Then, each piece will have it’s own certificate of authenticity, stamped with my name.

But most people can adapt this idea to their needs.  For example, imagine getting a letter in the mail that has your friend’s name stamped onto the envelope, and sealing it shut.  How beautiful and unique would that be.  I bet that you would remember that letter for a very long time.  You could use it on Christmas tags, and all other sorts of applications.

And if the entire thought of having to mess with wax worries you, they also make stickers which look like custom-made wax seals.  They are just as custom-done as the others, and they are raised as if they are real wax, but all you do is peel them off the sheet.
